Learning and sharing the treasure of herbal medicine and wild edibles
Welcome to Blossom and Birdsong Herbal Delights! My name is Marqueta Graham. This little family run small business is the result of a lifetime of discovering, growing, and creating together as a family. We do our best to provide products and education to make your family’s path to good health a little easier.
From the Smallest Beginnings...
My journey into herbalism coincided with my journey into motherhood.
The various fevers, tummy troubles, and other health issues commonly encountered by babies and small children brought with them a desire for me to be able to treat them at home without running to a physician every time.
I was fortunate to be able to enroll in the School of Natural Healing’s 3-year Master Herbalist course when my oldest daughter was two. From there I continued to study independently from books written by excellent herbalists and through hands-on experience with my own family and friends.
It has been a journey of discovery over the years, with always something new to learn and someone new to help.
My seven children have been my sometimes willing, sometimes unwilling patients and have given me many opportunities to learn how to help the body do what it was designed to do—heal itself. They have all grown up able to avoid doctor’s visits for the most part, and are generally in good health.
The joy of wild things
Along with learning about herbs to heal the body came the chance to learn about wild edibles to nourish us. In years when the garden didn’t fare well, we knew that we could turn to the abundance of plants that most people call “weeds” to be able to add rich nutrition to our diet. My children grew up nibbling on dandelions and chickweed while out playing in the backyard, and I enjoyed coming up with new ways to incorporate these wild treasures into our diet.
One of the greatest blessings of this knowledge is getting to share it with others. Through the years, I have been able to lead countless plant walks to teach others about the food and medicine growing around them. Another way we found to share was through our YouTube channel, on which we uploaded several plant walks and wild edible cooking tutorials.
Continuing to share the wonders of herbs and their Creator
We now live on our homestead in the Ozarks where we continue to create herbal products and teach others through classes and demonstrations.
It is very humbling to me to have learned so many plants that the Lord has created for us to use in so many situations, and I am grateful to be able to share with you what I have learned from over 25 years experience.
