Power Your Health With Nutritious Stinging Nettle

Stinging nettle plants with serrated leaves growing in a sunlit woodland
A sunlit patch of stinging nettles grows densely beneath the trees.

One of my favorite parts of spring is the first nettle harvest. Stinging nettle is a tough perennial that spreads by rhizomes and seeds. It is one of the first greens to pop up in early spring and by midspring has achieved a good amount of growth. You can use it as a cut and come again cooked green, or even run it through the blender to include in smoothies or green drinks.

Nettle is very nourishing and high in minerals. When I cook nettles, I drink the broth that is left afterwards (another word for this is pot liquor) and can feel a gentle energy in my body that feels like drinking sunshine.

I am grateful for the greens that pop up like little friends in the spring after a winter of heavy foods and thick layers of clothing. Partaking of these foods every day and using them in beverages is a wonderful way to clean the blood and increase our energy levels. And they’re free for the taking!

May you be blessed this spring with lots of green growth and nourishing foods all around you.

My prayer is that my friends will all partake of these blessings each day and find increased health and strength!

Love,

Marqueta
